Providence Village Inc. Welcomes Rob Wood and Martin Skolnick to Board of Directors

Kingston, ON, November 26, 2024Providence Village (“the Village”) is pleased to announce the appointment of two new members to its Board of Directors, Rob Wood and Martin Skolnick, effective November 22, 2024. Both Rob and Martin bring a wealth of expertise and community leadership experience that will greatly benefit Providence Village as it continues to grow and expand its partnerships to support the health and wellness needs of residents in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox, and Addington.

“We are thrilled to welcome Rob and Martin to our board,” shared Brian Hogan, Chair, Providence Village Board of Directors. “Their diverse professional backgrounds and strong commitment to community development make them invaluable additions to our board and to Providence Village. As we work toward building a supportive and inclusive community of care, their insights and expertise will help guide us on this journey.”

Rob Wood brings more than 30 years of experience in strategic planning, communications, marketing, governance, and facilitation. Rob has held numerous leadership roles throughout his career, including founding his own consulting and research firm, serving as a strategic planning consultant for numerous community projects, and managing CHUM Group radio stations. In addition to his professional achievements, Rob has a distinguished history of community involvement. He has served as Chair of the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area and the Queen’s Family Health Team Advisory Board, among others. In 2016, he was inducted into Kingston’s Hall of Fame in the Mentor category.

“The Village dream has incredible potential to bring more care, compassion and belonging to our community,” said Rob. “We are rising to a challenge — to become ‘an oak of our generation’ for those in most need in years to come.”

Martin Skolnick joins the Providence Village board with more than 35 years of experience in property development, leasing, valuation, and property management. Currently serving as Broker & Vice President at Rockwell Commercial Real Estate and President of King’s Town Development Corporation, Martin is widely recognized as a leader in commercial and residential property development. His notable projects include The Frontenac Club, Princess Court, and the Union Park Kingston redevelopment. Martin has also held significant roles in community organizations, such as Governor of Kingston General Hospital, Treasurer for the Canadian Cancer Society (Frontenac, Lennox & Addington), a member of the Mayor’s Task Force on Housing, and a member of the Mayor’s Task Force on the Large Venue Entertainment Centre (now Slush Puppie Place), to name a few.

“I am honoured to join the Providence Village board of directors and to contribute to this incredible vision for our community,” said Martin. “Providence Village represents a unique opportunity to carry forward the Sisters’ enduring legacy of compassion, service, and care. I look forward to collaborating with my fellow board members to evolve the Village and can create a sustainable community that will benefit generations to come.”

The addition of Rob Wood and Martin Skolnick comes at an exciting time for Providence Village, as it continues to welcome new partners and expand its capacity to serve the community. Through complementary care and support services provided by diverse partners, Providence Village strives to become a place of hope, belonging, and wellbeing for people in Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington.
