Kingston, ON, November 20, 2025 — Providence Village (“the Village”) is pleased to welcome Frontenac-Kingston Council on Aging Inc. (Council on Aging) as the newest member of its growing community of care. The Council on Aging moved into the Village in November 2025, joining a vibrant network of organizations working together to support the health and wellness needs of individuals and families across the region.
“The addition of the Frontenac-Kingston Council on Aging marks another exciting step in the growth of Providence Village,” said Laurie French, President & CEO, Providence Village. “Their dedication to supporting older adults and fostering meaningful community connections complements the work of our other subtenant partners and strengthens the collaborative environment we are creating here.”
For more than three decades, the Council on Aging has supported older adults across Kingston and Frontenac through innovative programs, education, and advocacy. Their services include the 24-hour Elder Abuse and Peer Support Line, Sunshine Calls wellness program, Mr. Fix It Friend home support initiative, and Intergenerational Sewing project that connects seniors and students to create fidget quilts for individuals living with dementia.
“Faced with growing demand for our programs, the Council on Aging is thrilled to find a permanent home at Providence Village where we can host programs and meetings in one accessible location for seniors and volunteers,” said John Mirski, President, Frontenac-Kingston Council on Aging Inc. “We’ve already connected with several other Village subtenant organizations who are eager to collaborate—creating exciting new opportunities to enhance services for seniors across the region. We are excited and look forward to the synergy that is offered by the community of care at Providence Village.”
The Council on Aging’s move to Providence Village was made possible through a grant from the Community Foundation for Kingston & Area’s Older Adults Connecting & Belonging (OACB) stream, which is supported by the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul Community Impact Fund. The OACB initiative unites community organizations and agencies serving older adults in the KFL&A region to reduce social isolation and foster connection and belonging.
“The OACB Community of Practice is enthusiastic about this move and the collaborative opportunities it opens up that will grow connection, partnerships, and expand community support,” shared Elizabeth Nelson, Project Manager, Older Adults Connection and Belonging initiative.
Stacy Kelly, Executive Director, Community Foundation, added, “The Sister’s Impact Fund is dedicated to driving innovative, transformative, systems-level change — and the hub model at Providence village offers tremendous collaborative potential to empower the Council on Aging to strengthen partnerships, foster innovation, and expand their access in ways that will have great impact.”
Located at 1200 Princess Street in Kingston, Providence Village continues to grow as a welcoming community where mission-aligned organizations share space, resources, and a common purpose. In recent months, the Village has also welcomed Heart to Heart Seniors Services, Independent Living Centre Kingston, Girls Inc. Limestone, and the Kingston School of Art, further bringing to life the Village’s vision of connection and collaboration in service to the community.
