Kingston, ON, June 26, 2025 — Providence Village (“the Village”) is pleased to welcome the Providence Centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation (PC-JPIC) as a subtenant and partner. In July 2025, PC-JPIC will move into space on Level 2 of the West Wing at Providence Motherhouse.
“We are honoured to welcome PC-JPIC to the Village,” said Laurie French, President & CEO of Providence Village. “Their unwavering commitment to justice and care for all of creation is deeply aligned with the values that shape our community. This move strengthens the powerful link between the visionary work of the Sisters and the thriving network of partners at the Village who are working towards a more just and compassionate world.”
Funded by an endowment from the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul, PC-JPIC is an operating division of Catholic Health Sponsors of Ontario. Its predecessor, the Justice and Peace Office, was originally launched by the congregation in 1991. It emerged at a time when advocacy was a bold and pioneering step for the Sisters, whose ministry had traditionally focused on charity-based service. Over the years, its work expanded from income insecurity and peace advocacy to include environmental stewardship, climate action, and Indigenous justice.
“Working in the Motherhouse will give staff and Sisters many more opportunities to interact, support, and learn from one another,” added Bridget Doherty, Executive Director, Providence Centre for Justice, Peace and Integrity of Creation. “In many ways, this move feels like coming home.”
With this move, PC-JPIC returns to the physical space where its mission first took root. This return will serve as a strong anchor as they explore opportunities to have a broader provincial and national influence. At Providence Village, PC-JPIC joins a diverse community of organizations committed to delivering compassionate care and services to people across Kingston, Frontenac, Lennox and Addington, and beyond.
