Kingston, ON, June 19, 2025 — Providence Village (“the Village”) is pleased to announce the appointment of Bhavana Varma as the new Chair of its Board of Directors, effective July 2025. Her appointment marks the beginning of a one-year renewable term, within the Board’s nine-year service limit. Bhavana succeeds Brian Hogan, who served as Chair over the past year and previously held the role from 2017-2022 as the inaugural Board Chair.
Bhavana joined the Providence Village Board of Directors in April 2023 and brings extensive non-profit leadership experience and a strong commitment to equity and inclusion—qualities that reflect the mission, vision and values of Providence Village.
“Bhavana is an extraordinary leader—her insight and governance experience will be invaluable as Providence Village continues to grow, evolve, and serve our community,” said Brian Hogan, outgoing Chair, Providence Village Board of Directors. “I have full confidence in her leadership and know the Board will be well served by her guidance.”
Brian’s leadership on the Board of Directors has been foundational to Providence Village, helping guide it from concept to reality—anchored in the mission of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul to provide compassionate care and address unmet needs in the community.
Additionally, Providence Village recognizes the retirement of Doug Hogeboom, a founding Board member since 2017 who served for nine years, including two as Chair.
“We’re grateful to Doug for his nearly decade-long dedication to the Village,” added Brian. “His contributions have been instrumental in shaping Providence Village from vision to reality.”
