We greatly appreciate the ongoing support and collaboration of our community, neighbours and interested parties as we move forward with transformative projects here at Providence Village Inc. at 1200 Princess Street. Our commitment to realizing the vision of the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul in our community remains unwavering, and your continued engagement is integral to our success.
In the coming weeks, contractors are scheduled to commence work on the west side of the Providence Motherhouse near Fairview Road. The purpose of this phase of construction is to tie in utilities for Providence Care’s Providence Manor redevelopment project, which is expected to open in late 2026. As previously shared, the 320-bed home will be nestled in green space in a community-like setting, with a multi-faceted services hub designed to honour the 160-year legacy of Providence Care Founders, the Sisters of Providence of St. Vincent de Paul.
Work will include excavation and rock breaking on the west side of the site and move eastward around the south side of the Providence Motherhouse for the purpose of installing new site services for the new Providence Manor. Rock excavation will continue through the fall and winter months as the project progresses.
Contractors have also started mobilizing on Philips Street in preparation for work beginning mid-late September. The purpose of this phase of construction is to tie in utilities for Providence Care’s new 10-suite Hospice Kingston residence, which is expected to open in mid-2024.
We are grateful to the team at Providence Care for keeping us informed of their Hospice Kingston and Providence Manor projects. We will continue to provide updates as we receive them on our website and social media platforms.
